History of the Graphics Philately Association

The GPA was conceived in 1975 when Robert M. Ritterband, a printer in California, and Mark
H. Winnegrad, a librarian in New York, discovered a mutual interest in printing on
stamps through their memberships in the American Topical Association.
More interested
people were located, and a charter membership of thirty was established by 31 December
1975.
Affiliation with the American Topical Association and the American Philatelic Society
has ensued.
